Year Five and Six Highlights
BackWhat an exciting week it’s been for Year 5! Our budding chefs took centre stage in Design and Technology this week as they created their very own pizzas. Using detailed plans from their DT booklets, they explored the art of combining flavours and crafting their creations. From measuring and mixing to topping and tasting, their culinary efforts were a huge success. In addition to their culinary pursuits, Lovelace class celebrated their special class birthday by diving into the life and legacy of Ada Lovelace. The children not only explored the pioneering contributions of Ada, the world’s first computer programmer, but also trailblazers in technology. It was an inspiring opportunity to connect past innovations with today’s advancements.
In Freeflow, our children showcased their imagination and skills by sculpting dragons, presenting fascinating classification facts, acting out scenes from The Hobbit, creating rhyming riddles, and even sewing in the Hobbit-style. In Geography, we’ve been learning all about London, setting the stage for next week when we’ll compare it with Wellington, New Zealand. In DT, we’ve planned out our exciting project to bake scones. The children have been busy organising their ingredients and are eager to get started! In Writing, own fantasy narratives, building on the ideas and inspiration from our class discussions.
