RE

Back

At TLAP, the aim of our RE curriculum is to teach children beyond tolerance, to true empathy and understanding. Our curriculum provides children with a genuine celebration of diversity that comes from understanding. We want to diversify children’s understanding of faiths so that they understand the diversity between faiths and within them. Slough is multicultural, multi faith town and our children need Religious Education that equips them for this.

RE is taught through weekly RE lessons, special assemblies for religious festivals and whole school celebrations. Children use museum learning principals to bring learning to life.

By the end of their time in Primary School, we want our children to celebrate faiths and world views that are different to their own, be knowledgeable and understanding of the key concepts of world faiths, ask questions about faith and talk about the things they have learned about religion and from religion and take part in debates and discussion around faith issues in a respectful and knowledgeable way.

RE Curriculum Map

At TLAP, we are proud of the fact that many of our pupils have a range of religious beliefs, many of the most popular religions are represented in our school. Additionally, we have a number of pupils without religious beliefs. We believe it is important that all pupils feel their views and faiths are represented within the curriculum. Through our Religious Education and Values program, we explore the differences and similarities in religions. We are keen to ensure that all children understand that religion is not limited to a person’s race. We want children to learn from each other. This will develop acceptance in addition to Mutual Respect and Understanding. However, we are aware that some families may wish to withdraw their children from these lessons. If you are considering removing your child from  RW, please contact the Headteacher via email on office@langleyacademyprimary.org.
