The Langley Academy Primary - "Outstanding" Ofsted 2018

School Meals

School lunches are prepared for the children by Accent Catering, who prepare food at The Langley Academy. Menus are changed each term and are circulated in advance to enable you to order your meals online via ParentPay.

School dinners are funded by the Government and are free for all children in Reception (and this will continue until the end of Year 2): You just need to complete a form, which is available from the school office.

Staff dine alongside the children in a ‘family-style’ service. This helps to support reluctant and fussy eaters whilst developing the social skills of all children. All children who have school dinners will receive a waited service, they will sit at the dining table and meals will be brought to them.

On a Friday, 2 children from each class are able to eat on the ‘golden-table’ alongside Mrs Bowen (and occasionally a visiting member of staff from within The Trust), as a special well-done for the progress they have made with eating their school dinner, developing independence and table manners.

Over 95% of our children eat a school meal and we are very proud of this fact, particularly as we know school meals are more nutritious than packed-lunches. However, should you choose to send your child with a packed lunch we request that it is a healthy meal, that is - no sweet fillings, chocolate snacks or sweets and only water to drink. Due to the growing number of serious allergies, we are a nut-free school, so please do not put nuts into the lunch box. Lunches should be in a named lunch-box.
